Zakusala DiscGolfPark opening
A new disc golf course “Zaķusala Disc Golf Park” was solemnly opened in Riga
On October 19 of this year, a new disc golf course “Zaķusala DiscGolfPark” was opened in Riga, Zaķusala, which was created by “UFOGOLF Latvija” in cooperation with the real estate developer “Merks majas”. The track is located in a unique location – next to the Riga Television Tower, offering playing opportunities in a picturesque environment with a view of the Daugava. The new track is suitable for both professionals and beginners, providing active recreation opportunities for Riga residents and guests.
Disc golf is a dynamic sport where the goal is to hit special baskets using specially designed discs. The rules are similar to traditional golf – players try to play each basket with as few shots as possible. The “Zaķusala Disc Golf Park” course is friendly to players of different levels – both experienced disc golf fans and those who want to learn this exciting sport.
“Merks houses” has already contributed to the development of active recreation opportunities in Riga by creating a volleyball court and a cross-country skiing track. With the Zaķusala disc golf course, the company continues to expand its investment in the development of the city’s environment and active recreation opportunities.
“It is with great pleasure and satisfaction that we support projects that develop the urban environment and offer opportunities for active leisure time. The disc golf course in Zaķusala is a great addition to this neighborhood and we hope that it will become a favorite place for active recreation for everyone,” says Māris Hesse, representative of “Merks majas”.
“The Zaķusala disc golf course is special both with its location and with the diverse challenges of the game. We are sure that this track will become an important place in the disc golf community, attracting both experienced players and newcomers,” says Agnis Vītols, manager of “UFOGOLF Latvija”.
The “Ufogolf” track in Zaķusala consists of 19 baskets, and its total length is 1608 meters. The course has already been described as a ‘folk class’ course by player feedback, as it is friendly to both beginners and experienced players. During the winter season, the track will be closed to ensure the operation of the cross-country skiing track, which will be available here for the third year.
The Zaķusala disc golf course is the second in Riga. The first track, located in Mežapark, has become a favorite place for lovers of active recreation. With a similar philosophy, the new location also offers a high-quality and affordable opportunity for active recreation near the nature of the city.
